Our Process
Every Valvella piece begins as a sketch. What starts as a simple idea can take close to a year to fully develop before it is ready to move from paper into your wardrobe.
For each design, fabrics are sourced from leading textile mills and designer suppliers across Italy, France, and Peru. Dozens of fabrics are studied, tested, and draped before selecting the one that perfectly captures the structure, texture, and movement the piece requires.
From there, an extensive sampling process begins. Each dress is refined through repeated iterations to perfect every detail of the silhouette, balance, and drape. Depending on the design, a piece may be sampled anywhere from five to thirty times before the fit, structure, and proportions meet our standards. Throughout this process, designs are tested across multiple body types to ensure they move and fit beautifully.
Only once a piece meets our exacting standards does it become part of the Valvella collection. Every dress is then manufactured where the process began — here in New York City — where craftsmanship and attention to detail remain at the center of every garment.
Each design is then added to our portfolio, where we carefully decide when it will be introduced into the Valvella collection.
