Every Valvella piece begins as a sketch. What starts as a simple idea can take close to a year to fully develop before it is ready to move from paper into your wardrobe.
I — The Sketch
Where every piece starts
Before a single sample is cut, a design lives on paper — sketched, redrawn, and reworked until the silhouette is right. It's the one stage of the process that never happens in a factory, only at a desk, often far from New York, wherever the idea catches up with us.
II — The Fabric
Sourced, not settled for
Fabric is sourced from mills and suppliers across Italy, France, and Peru — Old World textile houses and the finest natural fibers the New World has to offer. Dozens are tested and draped by hand before one is chosen, not for how it looks on a swatch, but for how it moves on the body.
III — Sampling & Fit
Five to thirty times, if that's what it takes
From there, an extensive sampling process begins. Each dress is refined through repeated iterations to perfect every detail of the silhouette, balance, and drape. Depending on the design, a piece may be sampled anywhere from five to thirty times before the fit, structure, and proportions meet our standards. Throughout this process, designs are tested across multiple body types to ensure they move and fit beautifully.
IV — New York
Where every piece is developed
Every Valvella piece is designed and developed here in New York City — from the first sketch through every round of fabric testing and sampling. Only once a piece meets our exacting standards does it move into production and become part of the Valvella collection. Each design is then added to our portfolio, where we carefully decide when it will be introduced.
